Knits Exploration

This project was a hands-on exploration in designing and physically constructing a fitted knit cut-out crop top. I focused on shaping the body through contour paneling and curved seams, finding a balance between structure and comfort.
From developing the initial flats to sewing the final garment, I worked carefully with stitch selection — using 2-needle finishes, 4-thread serging, flatlock stitching, and single-needle binding to create clean, durable construction. The 92% polyester / 8% spandex knit was chosen for its stretch and recovery, allowing the garment to contour the body while maintaining its shape.
Through sampling and testing, I adjusted seam placement and tension to refine the fit and achieve a polished finish. This project strengthened my understanding of how technical decisions directly impact both fit and wearability.

After the prototype, I made the following changes:
Centre Back Seam was added.
Centre front seam was added along with moving the princess seams in.
Added thumbholes to the sleeves along with binding around all the raw edges.
